Fluorite, also known as fluorspar, is a common mineral in nature. It belongs to the equiaxed crystal system and is cubic, octahedral or dodecahedron. Colorless crystal or white powder, natural ore contains impurities, slightly green or purple. It emits light when heated, with a density of 3.18g / cm3, a melting point of 1402 ° C, and a boiling point of 2497 ° C. It has a variety of common colors, and its main component is CaF2.
 
Fluorite is widely used, mainly in the three major industries of metallurgy, chemical industry and building materials, and also in light industry, optics, carving and defense industry.

In the metallurgical industry, fluorite has the characteristics of reducing the melting point of refractory substances, promoting the flow of slag, making the slag and metal well separated, desulfurizing and dephosphorizing during the smelting process, enhancing the metal's calcinability and tensile strength. Therefore, it is widely used as a flux in iron and steel smelting and ferroalloy production, chemical iron process and non-ferrous metal smelting.

Fluorite ore for smelting generally requires CaF2 content greater than 65%, and also has certain requirements for the main impurity SiO2, there are strict restrictions on S and P, the content of S and P shall not exceed 0.3% and 0.08%.
