Description of Slide Gate Plate:
Slide gate plates are also called sliding gate bricks, they are functional refractory for continuous casting. Alumina carbon slide gate plates are most often used slide gate bricks. The raw materials of slide gate plate are alumina, carbon, additives, binders and so on. Slide gate plates work in strong thermal shock, severe molten steel liquid corrosion and washing out environment, so they should have good hot mechanical strength, excellent corrosion resistance, washing resistance and thermal shock resistance.
To improve corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance of alumina carbon slide plate, middle temperature pitch is used for the impregnation of alumina carbon slide gate, so the porosity of alumina carbon slide plate is reduced, carbon content is increased, the mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance are greatly improved.

Burned alumina carbon slide gate plates are sintered in reductive atmosphere, during sintering, organic binder is carbonized and coked to form carbon bonding. Meanwhile, Si additive reacts with C and form SiC high temperature, therefore, there is not only carbon bonding but also ceramics bonding in alumina carbon sliding plate.
Alumina Zirconia Carbon Sliding Plate
Alumina zirconia carbon sliding plates are developed on the basis of Al2O3-C slide plate. The primary raw materials of alumina zirconia carbon sliding plates are fused zirconia corundum, zirconia mullite, corundum, natural flake graphite and so on as primary raw materials, metal Al, Si or SiC as additives, organic resign is used as binders. Alumina zirconia carbon sliding plates have better thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance and lower thermal expansion coefficient than alumina carbon sliding plate, so they are often used in large capcity steel ladles and tundish. Al2O3-Zr2O3-C sliding plates have much longer life than burned alumina carbon sliding plates.
